Do I dare disturb the universe?

T.S. Eliot

What is psychotherapy?

Psychodynamic therapy looks at our templates for moving through the world.

They're often unconscious, yet they form the building blocks for a universe of meaning.
And they can lock in strategies that are no longer serving us.

As we notice these in a contained, supportive space, old structures loosen and new choices become possible.

This is depth work. It takes time. I don't have a magic pill or a guarantee.
But I create a space where you might make something new for yourself.

Who I work with

'Here are my 50 specialisms' isn't a great way to assess therapist fit (imho).

These are some of the categories that shape how I practise.
If you see yourself here or hereabouts, get in touch.

Anxiety & social anxietyExploring and supporting your experience of anxiety. What are the dangers requiring vigilance?
Depression & low moodWitnessing your depression, being curious about it. What would it mean to find your voice in it?
Loss and life transitionsLoss can come in many forms: a loved one, a relationship, youth or health or status. Surviving loss might be one of our most human tasks.
Workplace stressPerforming amidst uncertainty and precarity, how might your early experiences be shaping your approach to leadership and conflict now?
Childhood trauma and boarding schoolOvercoming isolation to rediscover authenticity and intimacy.
MasculinityWhen being strong and providing for others stops working, what other options are there?
Public and social impact leadersYou excel at supporting others. How might getting in touch with your own needs clear space for a more honest stance?

Outdoors

Walking together to work through problems is as old as humanity. It engages the body, reduces the pressure of direct eye contact, and brings us back into contact with nature. In and around Stevenage.

Online therapy

Online

I work with people across the UK and internationally via video. You choose an environment that feels familiar and comfortable — being in your own space can make it easier to find your own words.

Outside psychotherapy, I offer open events to explore relevant topics, and an ongoing group to explore contemporary masculinity. Register your interest below and I'll be in touch.

Introduction to Therapy

Why would I consider therapy? What should I expect? How do I choose a therapist? How much does it cost?
An insider's view and a chance to ask questions.

Grief and endings in organisations

Endings and loss are rarely acknowledged in organisations, but they impact productivity as well as morale.
This is a reflective, practical space to think about endings and loss in organisations.

Next event: Wednesday 8 July, 10-11.30am. Online. Register here.

Exploring Masculinities

The models of masculinity most of us grew up around don't match who we are and want to be today.
What we do with that, what masculinities we will find and choose for ourselves, is a question for each of us.
I am opening a group to explore this question together.

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Practice from the University of Oxford.
I am a Registered Member of the BACP, the UK's largest professional body for counsellors and psychotherapists.
You can also find me on Psychology Today and Pear.

Alongside my clinical work, I have experience working in the public sector, social enterprise, charities, and in consultancy.
I hold an MA in Organisational Development, where I focused on masculinity as a lens to understand leadership and change.

I have lived and worked in Eastern Europe, and speak some Russian.

I believe this breadth of experience gives me a broad perspective, helping me to relate to a wide range of people, contexts, and difficulties.

How much does it cost?

£60-90

My standard fee is £90, with a sliding scale if your financial situation would make this unaffordable.

How frequent is it, and how long does it last?

Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly though we can discuss other options.
Therapy with me lasts as long as you choose. A four-week block at the start gives us both a chance to review progress together and decide what makes sense next.

What is your stance on inclusion, equity, and anti-oppression?

Anti-oppressive practice is an important ongoing part of my development, within a profession that remains deeply implicated in oppressive practices and structures.
To promote agency and freedom rather than perpetuating harm, those structures must be acknowledged and challenged within the therapeutic relationship: especially where they may be enacted through my privileged identities.

What about AI?

I don't use AI tools to record or listen to you.
AI promises to make things easier. Human relationships, therapy included, are made of encounters with other people that don't collapse into convenience.
Ironically, even miscommunications are necessary sometimes.
